Skills to Succeed - Employment for Young People

OMV and Hilfswerk International established the OMV-Training-Centre, a local training centre that builds the skills and improves the qualifications of workers and young graduates. The Centre’s aim was to improve the people’s employability and the region’s economic development. Since the governorate’s network of schools and vocational training centres is not able to meet the demands of the local job market, this Centre improved the standard of education as well as the labour conditions in Tataouine by providing effective and well managed training programmes tailored to actual market needs. 

• Implementation of professional trainings and examinations in the fields of e.g. English, IT, Entrepreneurship, Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical and Mechanical
• Acquisition and transfer of jobs in the mentioned job areas
• Awareness raising activities targeting the local population in order to introduce the Training Centre as an innovative educational institution in the region
• Grants for local initiatives in the fields of tourism, handicrafts, packaging and agriculture
• Establishing and maintenance of a professional network for society, companies and civil society

• 444 persons through employment creation
• 217 persons through professional technical training (VET)
• 1286 persons through soft skills and entrepreneurship training
